Our Story

Our journey began in 1930 when 15-year-old William C. Vriens, Sr., the son of a Dutch junk collector, took a job installing advertising displays. With a strong work ethic, natural talent, and an eye for detail, Bill quickly built a reputation for excellence. By the late 1940s, he founded Modern Display Service, operating out of the back of a rusty 1937 Plymouth station wagon.
As word of Bill’s expertise spread, so did the company’s reach, extending across the Intermountain West. Decades later, that same passion and commitment drive Modern Expo, Events & Exhibits, now a leading independent exposition service contractor, special event producer, and decorator.
Despite our growth, we remain true to our roots—built on quality, service, and family. Now in our third generation of leadership, we produce over 450 events annually across the country, carrying forward Bill’s legacy of craftsmanship and dedication.

Olympic Winter Games

In 2002, we served as the official Exposition and Special Event Service Provider for the United States Olympic Teams and 2002 Olympic Winter Games, since then, our Expo business has continued to grow and develop. In recent years, Modern Display has begun to branch out and service clients nationally and internationally.
